One of the more attractive card sets of the 19th century these 1 5/8” X 2 7/8” cards were issued originally by the Mayo Tobacco Works of Virginia in 1895. Of the 40 cards in the set, ten went on to become Hall of Famers-Anson, Brouthers, Clarkson, Duffy, Ewing, Rusie, Ward, Delehanty, Hamilton and Robinson. The set features some players in uniform (28) while others are pictured in street clothes (12).The original set would sell for $20,000.00!!
