Overview
From 1948 to the mid 50s, Bowman was the leading producer of sports cards. Their first foray into the market came with the releases of their 1948 sets. The 1948 Bowman Basketball set was comprised of 72 cards with a color photo of the hoops star on the front of the card, along with the player's vital info and a short biography on the card backs. This was the only basketball set released by Bowman until Topps released a set under its name for the 2003-2004 season. Stars in the set include Ernie Calverley, Red Holzman, Max Zaslofsky, Jim Pollard, and George Mikan. These cards make great additions to anyone's collection.
