Gum, Inc's 1939 Play Ball set proved to be so popular that they made their next set even bigger. The 240 card offering again featured black and white player photos on the fronts of the cards. This time, though, the player's picture appears to be framed and has his name under the photo. Card backs again feature vital info and a thorough player biography.

This set features many all-time greats from the era like Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Hank Greenberg, Mel Ott, and Joe Cronin along with former stars like Walter Johnson, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, Mickey Cochrane, and Shoeless Joe Jackson.
